THE DUEL

One topic. Two sides. Six weeks to sharpen your argument.

The Duel is a 6-week debate intensive designed for students who are ready to go deeper.

Instead of jumping from topic to topic, students spend six weeks immersed in one compelling debate resolution — researching both sides, building arguments, finding weaknesses, developing rebuttals, and testing their ideas head-to-head.

Students won’t just learn how to make an argument.

They’ll learn how to defend it under pressure.

Through research, strategy, drills, feedback, and repeated debate rounds, students develop the skills strong debaters rely on: thinking quickly, listening closely, responding strategically, and making a case that holds up when challenged.

Who This Program Is For

The Duel is designed for students who:

• love debating ideas and defending their opinions

• want to become faster, sharper thinkers

• want more opportunities to debate

• are ready to research and build stronger arguments

• want to improve rebuttals and responses

• enjoy competition and head-to-head challenges

• are interested in debate, Model UN, leadership, law, or competitive speaking

No prior debate experience is required. The Duel is designed for both newer debaters ready to dive in and experienced debaters who want more reps, sharper rebuttals, and deeper practice. Students should be ready to research, participate actively, receive feedback, and debate both sides of an issue.

Students Will Learn

The Duel Experience

Throughout the six weeks, students will go deeper into one resolution instead of starting a new topic each week.

Research → Build → Challenge → Rebut → Adapt → Duel

Each week adds another layer.

Students research. Build cases. Test arguments. Switch sides. Face new opponents. Get feedback. Rebuild.

Then they do it again. Strong debaters aren’t built by learning more debate vocabulary. They’re built through reps.

The Final Duel

The intensive culminates in a final series of head-to-head debates where students put six weeks of research, strategy, argument-building, and practice to work.

Students leave with:

• a deeply researched debate case

• experience arguing both sides of an issue

• stronger rebuttal and critical-thinking skills

• greater confidence responding in the moment

• significantly more live debate experience
